The choice of refuge will be made in consultation between you and your guide: Depending on your motivation to walk, the opening conditions and the weather, he will suggest the refuge that will give you the best experience.

Day 1
Meet at 10:00 a.m. in Chamonix town center.
Then departure by car or public transport to the starting point of the trek. Depending on the choice of route, the departure time may be adjusted.
Hike through the mountains to reach the refuge. Your guide will share his or her knowledge of alpine biodiversity and more!
Around mid-afternoon, arrival at the refuge and free time to enjoy some quality time in an exceptional setting.
Dinner at the refuge and night in a dormitory

Day 2
Breakfast at the refuge and descent back into the valley.
End of the experience around midday.

Here are a few examples of shelters that will inspire you:
🏔️ Refuge Albert 1er (2,707 m) – Mont Blanc Massif
Located above the Tour Glacier, this shelter is a popular base for mountaineers aiming for the Aiguille du Tour, the Chardonnet, or the Grande Fourche. Accessible without glacier equipment in summer, it offers spectacular views of the surrounding peaks. The main refuge can accommodate up to 137 people in season, while an old refuge serves as a winter dormitory for 30 people.
🌄 Refuge de Bellachat (2152 m) – Chamonix
This small wooden refuge, perched between Le Brévent and L'Aiguillette des Houches, offers one of the most breathtaking panoramas of Mont Blanc and the Chamonix valley. With a capacity of 24 hikers, it is a picturesque stopover on the GR5 or the Tour du Mont Blanc.
🌲 Loriaz Refuge (2020 m) – Vallorcine
A converted former alpine chalet, the Loriaz refuge is nestled in the Aiguilles Rouges massif. Accessible in both summer and winter, it offers breathtaking views of the Aiguille Verte and the Mont Blanc massif. It is an ideal starting point for hikes or snowshoe outings.
🧭 Plan Glacier Refuge (2680 m) – Saint-Gervais
Perched above the Miage glacier, this authentic and rustic refuge is accessible via a challenging hike, offering an immersive experience in a wild environment. With a capacity of 18 places, it offers simple accommodation, without showers, but with a warm kitchen and a magnificent view of the Dômes de Miage.

🏞️ Refuge de Platé (2032 m) – Passy
Located in the heart of the Désert de Platé, a vast limestone plateau with unique rock formations called “lapiaz,” this refuge offers exceptional views of the Mont Blanc range. Managed by the French Alpine Club, it is an ideal stopover on the Tour des Fiz or for family hikes.
